Kindergarten Is SWEET!
When a student breaks a classroom or school rule, is hurtful to another student, misbehaves in the cafeteria or a special class I do talk to the student or students involved. I try to gather as many facts as possible to give a better understanding of what has happened. We talk about the choice that was made and what we could do next time to make a better choice. When the student's card is moved he/she moves the card. We never move a card for the student (unless it can not be reached), nor is a card moved without the student knowing. I try to teach the students responsibility for his/her actions, honesty in what has happen, and making good choices. EVERYONE makes mistakes and that is important for students to realize. Moving a card is a way of saying "I made a mistake, but next time I am going to try to do better."
