There will be no homework sent home on Wednesday. No homework over Spring Break!
March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day and two of our 6th grade students asked if we could do something to support this cause. This day is celebrated with "crazy socks". For $1 or more, students may wear crazy or mismatched socks, be out of uniform, and wear hats (we will take hats off for church) on Tuesday, March 21st. The money will be given to the Down Syndrome Association of Cincinnati. What caring children we have to come up with this idea!
We will be saying the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent. The time has been changed to 2:30pm.
Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather when he/she comes to school each day. We do go outside for recess as long as the temperature is 32 degrees or above.
We have two students with allergies in our classroom. Please do not send any snacks with your child that contain peanuts, tree nuts, or peanut butter.
Spelling: Your child will take a written spelling test on Friday. Please help your child practice his/her spelling words each night.
This week's words are: cow, town, mouse, how, out, mouth, nothing, early. Test on Friday.
Phonics: This week we will work on the ou and ow sound you hear in cow. We will focus on decoding and writing words with ou and ow.
Reading: This week's high frequency words are: color, early, instead, nothing, oh, thought. Please help your child practice these words for Friday's test. We will be reading "Whistle for Willie". You can find the story on pages 226-255. Your child will bring home his/her reading book on Tuesday and Thursday to practice the story. We will focus on problems and solutions this week.
