My name is Pamela Holman. This is my eleventh year teaching. It is my fifth year as a teacher at St. Michael School. I am so excited to begin a new year! St. Micheal School Preschool follows the Indiana State Foundations (Preschool Standards) as well as The Archdiocese of Indianapolis Religion Standards for Preschool.
I have attended several trainings and have conducted informal research on brain development and the use of occupational therapy strategies. I have incorporated these strategies into my everyday teaching and curriculum. Throughout the year, we will isolate letters and sounds of letters, along with a daily review of all letters. We will not be reviewing letters in ABC order, rather we will learn letters based on their formation from easiest to hardest.
L, F, E, H, T, I,D, B, P, U, J,C, O, G, Q, S, R, A, K, M, N, V, W, X, Y, Z
We are working on self help skills and independence in preparation for Kindergarten.
Some things we encourage kids to do are:
-clean up their area after snack and lunch
-problem solve (my nose is running, I should get a tissue)
-put sweaters, shoes, coats on independently
If you can encourage these skills at home, we can work together to make your child a super kindergartener!
Academics
-Practice Flash Cards
-Count with your child at home
-Read stories together
-Practice name writing (with correct upper and lower letters in name ex: Tom, not TOM
Come Volunteer! We are seeking volunteers to help during our lunch hours 11 am-12:30 pm. Volunteers assist teachers with helping students at lunch, during classroom playtime, and outdoor play. Your volunteer time allows teachers to perform other school-wide duties and eat lunch. All volunteers MUST complete a parish background check and child safety course prior to volunteering.
